We held our first event on 22 Feb, everyone enjoyed the tasty Kenyan food and my talk about what I learned running in Iten. The trip to Kenya was a once in a lifetime experience for me, so I hope I was able to convey my enthusiasm for the people, the food, the training and the talented Kenyan athletes.
A special thanks to the chefs, Neva and Lucy, for the gorgeous food and thanks to everyone that turned up and contributed. You are all wonderful.
We raised £200 for the Arete Scholarship Program, which helps young Kenyan athletes fulfil their athletic and personal potential with coaching, an online running community, opportunities to race abroad and improved living conditions.

The menu on the night…
Main course: chapati’s, green chutney, kachumbari (salsa), ugali, sukuma wiki, githeri (peanut stew) and irio (mashed potato with peas and sweetcorn) washed down with Tusker beer.
Dessert: Mandazi (Kenyan triangular donuts) with pineapple and mint. Masala Chai or Kenyan coffee
We are planning a trip back to Kenya in January 2020. Who wants to come with us and train at altitude with talented Kenyan athletes?
Just cleaning up the site and moving details of our event in February to the posts (from the home page). I will add details of next year’s Africa trip here soon. I will also summarise my talk in a separate post and link it here
