I have not posted for a while, as I have been busy training for the Flitch Way 100k and finishing my job in London.
I am now nearly ready for a big adventure in Africa!
Nathan Flear, a fellow Welsh ultrarunner, has invited me to join his training camp in Iten, Kenya 🇰🇪 I am really looking forward to running with other UK athletes, as well as the Kenyans, the best endurance athletes in the world. I am hoping that the high altitude (2500m) and the monastic existence dedicated to running, eating and resting will have a positive effect on my running performance. With coaching from Andy Brooks and dedicated full-time training, we will see how it affects my next race at Flitch Way 100k on 27 Jan.
In the meantime, I am madly trying to get prepared as I fly on 2nd January. I am looking forward to staying in the “Home of Champions”, where a large proportion of the world and Olympic champions originate from.
I will post regularly in January with photos that will contrast with everyone else’s cold, grey and wintery pics. For now here is a taste, with a shot of the entrance to Iten town.
